Just as with fashionable preferences, comfort is a highly subjective concept. All our different house slipper types shine in their recommended fields of use. As our collection of comfortable Men’s Slippers and Women’s Slippers can certainly be quite overwhelming, we want to have a closer look at each of the different archetypes below. For even more detailed information on our different slipper types & material properties, we welcome you to visit the respective category pages that are also linked in the corresponding paragraphs below.
Boiled Wool Slippers
So-called Boiled Wool Slippers get processed from pure new wool, only using heat & water to make the fibers intertwine with each other. This way, the wool retains its natural softness, resulting in a heavenly snug & cuddly finish that offers a very supple skin sensation without any scratching or itching. The latter is also due to the fact that sheep wool contains Lanolin, a wool wax that is also used in many skin care products like ointments & baby creams due to its inherently nourishing properties. All-natural wool perfectly protects from cold, but also has a breathable effect. After prolonged wear, excess heat & moisture will simply be absorbed and released into the air. Boiled wool slippers are also slightly pliable and will gently adapt to your feet during the course of wearing, resulting in an all-around pleasant & comfortable fit.
Wool Felt Slippers
Just like boiled wool, genuine wool felt is also made from 100% new wool without any synthetic additions. The difference is that there is significantly more pressure used during the felting process. As a result, wool felt is not quite as soft, but more sturdy & extremely shape-retaining due to its very dense surface structure. However, Wool Felt Slippers are still soft enough to feel pleasant even when worn without socks. The wool's breathable properties also remain unchanged when processed to felt, which is why wool felt slippers always preserve a well-balanced & dry atmosphere.
Regarding their outsoles, our felt slippers are available with both soft & solid versions. Slippers with felt or leather soles are rather optimized for pure indoor use, whereas firm & waterproof rubber soles as found in our wool felt clogs are fully outdoor suitable without any restrictions.
Sheepskin Slippers
If we look at our entire slipper range, the summit of coziness (and they're all cozy!) might just be our extremely fluffy, fur-lined Sheepskin Slippers. With slippers made of naturally grown sheepskin, the material is processed in its original form. Thus, they're made of sturdy genuine leather on the outside & incomparably fluffy wool lining on the inside. The latter makes them one of the most popular house slippers for winter, especially if your feet are prone to cold. Even in freezing cold temperatures, they will faithfully keep your feet warm.
Slipper Boots
Our ankle-high Slipper Boots, sometimes also called bootie slippers or slipper socks, are another highly recommended slipper type for bitterly cold winter days. Most of them are made of cuddly soft boiled wool, which reliably insulates against cold while still transporting heat & moisture outwards to prevent sweaty feet when worn for longer periods. They are available with either flexible rubber or soft felt soles and usually feature particularly elastic knitted cuffs around the entry area. Those can easily be stretched, making our slipper boots easy to put on despite their all-around closed shape. By providing warmth & a soft skin sensation up to the ankles, they make the entirety of your feet including parts of the lower legs feeling sheltered & contented. Thus, they definetly belong to the best slippers for cold feet.
Ballerina Slippers
Our elegant Ballerina Slippers excel in combining tasteful designs, often times embroidered with flowery applications, with the familiar comfort of high-quality slippers. As a side effect of their graceful yet minimalistic designs, they are usually notably lightweight. Hence, you can enjoy their warmth & soft paddening, although you can barely feel these house slippers on your feet due to their pleasantly low weight. Regarding the upper material, our range of house ballerinas is quite varied: you can choose between cotton, boiled wool & wool felt ballerinas.
Leather Slides & Thong Sandals
Our genuine Leather Slides & Thong Sandals for women & men are the perfect summer footwear for both indoor & outdoor use. Not only do they make particularly airy house slippers, but can also be worn as roadworthy, summery casual shoes on almost any occasion. The majority of our leather sandals are both open-toe & open-heel, allowing to quickly slide in from a standing position (hence the commonly used terminology of 'slides' or 'slide sandals'). These are available with different numbers of leather straps above the instep, including one-strap, two-strap & three-strap sandals as well as particularly stylish cross-band sandals. However, we also carry some leather sandals with an ankle-strap at the heel area. Those provide maximum stability and might be the preferred choice if your feet generally tend to slip out the back of open-heel footwear. Besides those, we also have a vast array of fashionable thong sandals (also referred to as toe separators or simply toe sandals) that feature a toe-strap at the front. Those are usually open-heel as well, but still provide a little bit more stability through said toe strap. They are also popular for their elegant designs, making them highly suitable to be combined with more serious or even glamorous outfits.
Nearly all of our leather sandals are equipped with anatomically moulded cork-latex-footbeds that will adapt to your feet as you wear them, resulting in highly individual arch support & step cushioning. By supporting the muscles while walking & thus actively preventing fatigue, those footbeds are the cornerstone of a comfortable wearing experience, which remains intact even after long periods of prolonged wear.
Our leather sandals are naturally suitable to be worn outdoors due to their very sturdy & waterproof rubber soles. Those are also equipped with anti-slip tread patterns in order to provide stability & safety on any kind of flooring.
Summer Slippers
Besides the aforementioned leather sandals which are usually open-toe, our range of Summer Slippers suitable for sunny days also includes closed-toe house slippers that are made of highly breathable & lightweight cotton. In cotton slippers, a balanced & dry climate is maintained at all times, even in very hot weather.
Leather Clogs & Slippers
Apart from sandals, we also have Leather Clogs & Slippers with an enclosed front. Genuine leather slippers offer a unique mix of durability & comfort, as the material is inherently hard-wearing & dirt-repellent, yet supple to the skin. As a bonus, leather slippers certainly have a classy & exquisite touch, pampering eyes & feet alike. Leather is also water-repellent, which is why those models with solid outsoles can also be worn outdoors without hesitation, even in damp conditions. This is especially the case with our leather clogs, as all of those are equipped with a thick cork footbed & weatherproof, very sturdy rubber soles.
Open Back Slippers
Our Open Back Slippers are either completely open at the heel or merely have a very flat edge. Either way, they can be comfortably put on or taken off from a standing position - no need to use the hands at all! Material-wise, most of our open-heel slippers are made of genuine wool felt or boiled wool and furthermore available with either hard or soft soles.
Closed Heel Slippers
If your feet are prone to slipping out of the rear of open-heel variants, we suggest taking a look at our Closed Heel Slippers. These provide maximum stability through their raised heel areas, even when worn with narrow feet! Usually made of sturdy wool felt, they feature either solid rubber soles or soft soles made of felt or leather.
Can Slippers help with Foot Pain?
Certainly so, we've actually dedicated a whole category to Slippers for Foot Pain & Problem Feet, including Slippers for Bunions (also known as Hallux Valgus), for instance. These either have extra spacious toe boxes providing enough wiggle room or are simply made from very flexible materials that will gently adapt to your feet at said area. They are therefore also suitable to be worn with hammer toes.
Our Slippers for Diabetes are also made of particularly soft, pliable & skin-friendly materials like 100% boiled wool. On top of that, they are typically crafted with no internal seams whatsoever, so you can comfortably wear them even with very sensitive skin.
Besides those slippers for more chronic foot disorders, we also carry Slippers for Wide Feet as well as Slippers for Narrow Feet. Those are either explicitly designed for those types of feet or adjusted versions of some of our most popular & meritorious slippers.
Slippers with Arch Support
Our Slippers with Arch Support are available with both integrated & removable footbeds. These are either made of felt, soft foam, latex or cork and respectively offer different levels of arch support. Footbeds made of cork or latex usually offer very strong arch support, actively supporting your feet's muscles, tendons & ligaments while walking. Our models with cork or latex footbeds are therefore the perfect slippers for plantar fasciitis and furthermore prevent signs of fatigue after prolonged wear. With footbeds made of felt or soft foam, the arch support is not quite as pronounced, but in return they offer much softer paddening.
Slippers with Removable Footbed
If you're dependant on custom orthotics, yet don't want to dispense with the warmth & comfort inherent to high-quality slippers, we can warmly recommend our manifold Slippers with Removable Footbed. Their loose insoles can be taken out by hand in the blink of an eye to be replaced with your own orthotics.
Which Slippers can I wear Outside?
All of our leather & wool felt clogs are particularly suitable slippers for outdoor use & street wear, as they are exclusively equipped with solid, waterproof rubber soles. Thus, you won't need to change shoes if you just want to quickly dash out the front door to get the paper, walk the dog around the block or have a cozy little chat with your neighbor at the garden fence. Especially the Haflinger Grizzly Clogs have proven themselves as absolute favorites amongst our customer base over the years - not only due to their indoor-outdoor capabilities, but also thanks to their anatomical cork footbeds that gradually mold to your feet as you wear them.
What are the best slippers for tiles or hardwood floors?
For smooth floorings like tilings or hardwood, we would generally suggest slippers with rubber soles. These are available in either flexible or solid variants and usually equipped with an anti-slip tread pattern that provides traction & safety on more slippery floors. The rubber soles used in our slippers are almost always light-colored in order not to leavy black stripes on the ground. We also have a few slippers with synthetic EVA (Ethylene-Vinyl-Acetat) soles. Those have a slip-inhibitory effect as well, although this is not as pronounced as with rubber soles.
For particularly sensitive floorings prone to scratches, we would rather suggest slippers with soft soles made of felt or leather. Suede leather soles inherently have a slip-inhibitory effect, whereas felt soles are usually coated with a thin, hardly visible latex layer providing the necessary stability.
