To enjoy your slippers for a long time, take note of our care instructions:
Not Machine-Washable:
All recommendations unless otherwise specified on the label!
✗ House shoes with cork-latex footbed or cork midsole.
✗ House shoes with a hard rubber, plastic or leather outsole.
✗ House shoes with an upper made of sheepskin, shearling or leather.
✗ Do not rub stains or specks of dirt, but spot-clean them instead.
Drying House Shoes
✗ Do not put house shoes or slippers in a dryer.
✗ Do not leave them in sunlight or on a source of direct heat.
✓ We recommend to stuff washed or wet slippers with crumpled paper so that they maintain their form.
✓ Change the paper regularly.
✓ Once stuffed and carefully pulled into shape, let them air dry.
General Care Information
Cork Latex Footbed
You can gently spot-clean a cork-latex footbed with a damp cleaning cloth. Please make sure that you do not expose the cork to either an excessive amount of water, soap or detergent. This might damage the cork and lead to early crumbling of the material.
Expert-Advice:
The manufacturers recommends to carefully treat the cork-latex footbed with a protectant or sealant once a year, if you intend to use it in rough weather conditions. This might help to preserve the features and durability of the natural cork latex.
Upper: Wool Felt
You can gently brush away any dirt from the clog's upper with a soft brush or with a with a damp cleaning cloth that doesn´t pill. The manufacturer recommends to avoid treating the upper with soaps or chemicals of any sort. This might damage the strength of the felt and other natural properties of the wool felt.
Expert-Advice:
The manufacturer recommends to clean hard rubber outsoles with a regular brush. Make sure to restrict brushing to the rubber only. Do not brush a cork-latex footbed, seam or glued connection between upper and sole. See the advice on cork-latex footbeds above.
Upper: Leather (Sheepskin excl.)
Leather clogs and sandals are made of different types of leather (Nubuk, smooth, elk). The manufacturer recommends, that you clean and treat your leather clogs or sandals with a leather cleaner and protectant suitable for the type of leather the upper is made of. Nubuk leather should be cleaned with a special, soft brush or a cloth only. Smooth leather may be treated with specific shoe polish. (not including sheepskin or shearling)
Expert-Advice:
Applying liquid leather cleaner or protectant products might affect the color, tone and texture of the upper's leather. The manufacturer recommends to test any product on a small and inconspicuous part of the house shoe before applying it to the entire upper, to make sure of it's effects. Upper: Sheepskin
Treatment of Sheepskin-Slippers: The manufacturers recommend to clean sheepskin or shearling uppers with a mild and suitable protectant at your own hazard. Please make sure to first test a small portion on an inconspicuous part of the house shoe. Please note that such a protectant might alter the color, tone or texture of the material.
Expert-Advice:
Please mind the advice on protectants and cleanants that we have previously given. Use of any care products has to be conducted carefully and at your own hazard. Make sure to always test them on small parts of the house shoe, before applying it to its entirety. See the advice on cork-latex footbeds above.
Upper: Cotton
Slippers with a cotton upper, but without leather applications or cork-latex footbed, maybe washed, for several minutes, at your machine's gentle cycle at 30°. Make sure to mind that house shoes should only be washed, if none of the tips given under Not Machine-Washable apply.
Expert-Advice:
The manufacturers recommends to carefully treat the cork-latex footbed with a protectant or sealant once a year, if you intend to use the Grizzly in rough weather conditions. This might help to preserve the features and durability of the natural cork latex.
Soft Soles (Felt & Rubber):
Manufacturers advise that Boiled Wool Slippers can be washed at your machine's gentle cycle (30 °C) for several minutes. Please do not use detergent or fabric softener as they might damage the consistency of the glue, seam or natural rubber.
Hard Soles:
Some boiled wool slippers by HAFLINGER or Living Kitzbuehel come with a hard rubber outsole and removable or integrated cork-latex footbeds. If you insist on machine washing them, make sure to remove the footbed first. Note that machine washing might weaken the glue link between upper and outsole.
