Fitting Step by Step
Finally, your new and wonderful pair of slippers has arrived by mail. A good fit is the key to long-lasting comfort. Footwear bought at German-Slippers might well be healthy and beneficial, but house shoes have to fit right to fully unfold their magnificence. This fact is true with almost all shoes or house shoes, but we want that our customers are fully satisfied with their choice.
Wool felt or shearling clogs, boiled wool or sheepskin slippers or leather clogs and mules all made of all-natural materials might feel different later compared to when you fit them first. This is why we have compiled recommendations and advice into a small guide that details how different slippers and materials might behave during the first fitting. We have also added some information how you should handle the house shoes and the packaging to qualify for a return, should you wish to. It's now time for a final fitting and we will supply the necessary advice to make it a success.
Step 1: Relax your feet
Please try on the slippers with relaxed and rested feet only, at the time of day you intend to wear them the most. When overstressed, after periods of walking, standing up or sitting down, they might be swollen which might result in the impression of a wrong fit (specific foot problems excluded). Why not lean back in your armchair after work, lie down on your couch in the evening or simply put your feet up a while before you try them on.
Please wear a pair of socks when you first fit your new pair of house shoes. This is a hygenic precaution as well as good advice, because if you generally favor socks over bare feet, it will help to factor in their additional thickness for a future good fit. Once you have decided to keep them, you can wear all out high-quality and comfortable slippers, be they made of boiled wool, wool felt, sheepskin, cotton or leather, with or without socks.
Step 2: Test the feeling
Take the time and walk a couple of steps on a carpeted surface indoors, to find out whether or not you like how they feel. Please remember to wear them with socks. This is a hygenic measure, but it generally makes sense to factor in the additional thickness if you intend to wear them with socks later on. Keep them at your feet for a while, make sure that your new wool felt clogs or boiled wool slippers fit as well as they feel. Take a look at the different properties of materials.
Please note that all house shoes in our assortment are made of all-natural materials, that come with different properties and behave differently over time. There sometimes might even be a slight difference within models of the same series, although they mostly fit similarly. Felt clogs and wool slippers should always fit as easy as possible without feeling too tight or dropping from your feet. Wool felt, compared to boiled wool (felted knitwear), is tight and sturdy and will not give in much, which is why the clogs or slippers should already feel like a good fit when you first put them on.
Try it carefully until you are sure
As long as you still feel unsure about whether or not you want to keep your slippers, remember to walk on soft underground. Please understand, that we cannot take back slippers with signs of tear, wear or any other marks of handling and usage (Return Policy).
Please keep the slippers clean, do not remove any labels or tags and take care not to overly damage the originial packaging.
